Xenon 2: Megablast is one of those Amiga shooters that just sticks with you. You start off blasting through organic-looking alien swarms, dodging weird tentacle things and spore creatures—then suddenly, halfway through, everything shifts to mechanical enemies like floating turrets and drones. It keeps you on your toes.

The shop system is what makes it special, though. Every few waves, you dive into this weird little store called Colin’s Bargain Basement (yes, really) to spend cash you’ve earned from kills. You’re always torn between grabbing homing missiles, upgrading your shields, or just maxing out your speed. And sometimes you’ll find power-ups mid-level, like a temporary invincibility bubble that makes you feel unstoppable for about five seconds.

Oh, and pro tip: hold down to reverse scroll. You’ll need it in those tight maze sections where backing up fast is the difference between life and exploding spectacularly. The soundtrack’s a banger too—Bomb the Bass never gets old.
