Zippy Race came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1983, published by Hudson Soft. It was one of the earlier titles on the system, a straightforward arcade-style racing game that didn't try to overcomplicate things. You got a simple concept and just ran with it.
You control a small motorcycle, weaving through an endless stream of cars and trucks on a multi-lane highway. The main goal is to survive as long as possible, covering the greatest distance without a crash. The screen scrolls continuously, forcing quick lane changes to dodge oncoming traffic; you also need to watch for oil slicks that send you into a temporary, uncontrollable skid. The pace is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as traffic density increases. It feels tense and immediate, a pure test of reflexes and focus.
