Zoids Saga on the GBA is one of those games I stumbled onto years ago and still think about. You start off picking your first Zoid—I went with a Liger because, well, it looks cool—and suddenly you're thrown into these grid-based battles where positioning matters way more than I expected. Mess up your formation, and that enemy Death Saurer will stomp your squad into scrap metal.
The customization is where it really shines. Swapping out armor, weapons, and even pilot skills gives you this weirdly satisfying tinkering vibe, like building a model kit that actually fights for you. Some loadouts straight-up don’t work (learned that the hard way), but when you nail a combo and your Zoid shreds through three enemies in one turn? Pure serotonin.
It’s got that classic GBA charm—simple sprites, crunchy sound effects, and just enough story to keep you moving between fights. If you ever watched the Zoids anime as a kid or just love tactical RPGs with giant robots, this one’s worth digging up.
