Zzyzzyxx is one of those arcade games that looks simple at first—until you realize how sneaky those Rattifers are. You play as this little guy trying to climb up the screen to reach Lola at the top, dodging rows of shifting blocks with gaps in them. The catch? You’ve gotta grab gifts for her along the way, tucked into those gaps like hidden prizes. Once you collect enough, she whistles, and you can finally meet up—only for her to teleport back to the bottom, making you do the whole thing in reverse.
It gets tense fast. Those Rattifers slither through the gaps, and if they touch you, poof—there goes a life. You can drop bricks to block them or hide inside one like a panic room, but sometimes you’ll find a golden helmet that lets you smash through a brick instead. Later levels throw bombs, missiles, and even crumbly bricks that vanish under you. It’s the kind of game where you’ll yell at the screen when a Rattifer corners you at the worst possible moment.
