I picked up 1001 Touch Games for the Nintendo DS back in 2011, a time when the handheld was absolutely flooded with casual titles. Published by Atari, it was one of those budget collections that promised a ton of content for very little money, and it definitely delivered on quantity. You don't control a character so much as you interact directly with the touch screen across a huge variety of mini-games. The main objective is simply to play through them, trying to beat your own scores or just see what's next. The mechanics are all over the place; you might be tracing lines to cut ropes, tapping numbered tiles in sequence, or carefully tilting the system to guide a ball through a maze. The pacing is fast, with most games lasting less than a minute, and the difficulty ranges from laughably simple to genuinely challenging. It feels like digging through a big box of assorted puzzles, never quite knowing if the next one will be a dud or a delight.
