If you've ever wanted to feel like a flying tank with wings, A-10 Tank Killer nails that oddly specific fantasy. You're strapped into the cockpit of the A-10 Thunderbolt—this ugly, slow beast of a plane that somehow becomes terrifying when you realize it exists solely to shred armored columns. That 30mm cannon sounds like a god tearing sheet metal when you hold down the trigger.
The missions feel surprisingly alive for a DOS game. Miss taking out a convoy early on? Don't be surprised when those same tanks roll up to ruin your day three missions later. The radio chatter from friendlies (and the panicked Soviet transmissions you occasionally pick up) gives the whole thing this tense, slightly chaotic Cold War vibe. Yeah, the graphics are all jagged polygons and the engine sounds like a kazoo if you're stuck with PC speaker audio, but there's something weirdly immersive about lining up a perfect gun run on a T-72 while SAM warnings scream at you.
It's one of those sims where you'll botch a landing, swear at your monitor, then immediately restart because you need to see if skipping the side missions to hit the main armor column actually works. The kind of game that makes you lean forward in your chair without realizing it.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
