Tank Wars came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Kenny Morse. It was a straightforward, no-frills kind of game that fit right in with the era's appetite for simple, competitive fun on a home computer. You didn't need a fancy setup or a manual the size of a phone book; it was just you, a friend if you had one, and some tanks.

You control a small, blocky tank on a 2D battlefield, usually against another player or the computer. The main objective is to destroy your opponent by firing projectiles while accounting for gravity and wind. Each turn, you adjust your angle and power, then fire and hope your shot lands. The terrain is destructible, so you can blast craters to hide in or collapse the ground under your enemy. Matches are quick and tense, with a lot of back-and-forth as you try to outmaneuver each other's shots. It feels like a calculated gamble every time you pull the trigger.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
