I picked up A Sound of Thunder for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, published by BAM! Entertainment. It was one of those mid-2000s games that tried to capture the feel of a movie, in this case the sci-fi adventure about time travel gone wrong. You control a time safari guide named Travis Ryer, moving screen by screen through dense prehistoric environments. The main goal is to survive the jungle and fix the timeline after a client steps off the path and alters history. You use a rifle to take down dinosaurs and other creatures, and you also solve environmental puzzles, like moving rocks or activating mechanisms to open new routes. The pacing is deliberate, with some tricky enemy patterns and platforming sections that demand careful timing. It feels tense and isolated, like you're really struggling to stay alive in a world that wants you dead.
