Game Overview

ACME Animation Factory came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Sunsoft. It was one of those creative, slightly offbeat titles that showed how the SNES could handle more than just platformers and RPGs. You don't play a hero or save the world; instead, you step into the shoes of an animator at the famous (and chaotic) ACME studio.

You control a cursor with either a standard controller or the SNES Mouse, drawing and coloring character cels across various cartoon scenes. The main goal is to complete animation frames accurately and on time to please the director. Key mechanics include tracing character outlines, filling them with color from a limited palette, and occasionally fixing mistakes in existing cels. The pace is relaxed but demands attention to detail; it's not a difficult game, but rushing leads to sloppy work. Playing it feels like a quiet, satisfying exercise in precision and creativity.
