Play Akumajou Densetsu (Japan) Online
You slash through Dracula’s minions with Trevor’s whip, picking allies who change how you tackle branching paths—Sypha melts bosses, Grant sticks to walls, and Alucard’s just cool. That Japanese soundtrack hits harder while you die a lot.

Akumajou Densetsu is the Japanese version of Castlevania III, and honestly, it’s the better one—harder, with different music, and way more atmospheric. You play as Trevor Belmont, the first dude in the family to take on Dracula, and you’ll pick up three allies along the way: Grant the wall-climbing pirate, Sypha the magic-wielding badass, and Alucard (yeah, that Alucard).
What makes this one special? The branching paths. You actually get to choose different routes through the game, and your party changes how you tackle levels. I always go for Sypha first—her spells wreck bosses—but Grant’s agility is a lifesaver in some of those brutal platforming sections. And the soundtrack? Absolute fire, especially compared to the Western release.
Fair warning, though: it’s tough as nails. You’ll die. A lot. But that’s part of the charm—this is classic Castlevania at its finest.
