Alfred's Adventure came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by a small studio called Pixel Egg. It was part of that wave of quirky, experimental platformers that filled the gaps between bigger releases, and it had a strange charm that stuck with me.
You control Alfred, a chicken on a mission to rescue his egg friend from a factory full of robotic clones. The game plays out screen by screen, with a lot of running, jumping across moving conveyor belts made of egg cartons, and avoiding enemies rather than fighting them. You collect golden feathers to unlock new areas, and the pacing is brisk but fair, with a difficulty that feels challenging without being unfair. It's a game that feels both absurd and thoughtfully designed, and playing it gives you that satisfying mix of silliness and genuine accomplishment.
