Aliens vs. Predator for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1993, developed by Jorudan. It was one of those licensed action games that tried to stand out on a console already packed with heavy hitters. The premise alone, pitting two sci-fi horror franchises against each other, made it hard to ignore.
You control a Predator hunting Xenomorphs through maze-like industrial complexes. Your goal is to eliminate the alien threat, room by room, using a mix of melee attacks and a limited ranged weapon. The game uses screen by screen exploration; you clear one area of enemies before moving to the next. Combat is up close, with satisfyingly graphic finishing moves. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can feel punishing due to limited continues. It feels tense and claustrophobic, like a hunt where every corner could hide something lethal.
