Pilot a sluggish mech through chaotic missions—blow up satellites, wipe out squads, and wrestle with janky controls that somehow feel satisfying when you pull it off. It’s punishing, but there’s a weird charm to its clunky, explosive chaos.

Amok came out in 1996 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, a collection that republished older titles for a new audience. The game was originally developed by Scavenger, and it fits right into that mid-90s era of isometric action games, where developers were experimenting with 3D perspectives on hardware that was still catching up to the ambition.
You control a heavily armed walker, navigating through a series of hostile, maze-like levels. Your main objective is to complete missions, which often involve destroying specific targets or surviving waves of enemy units. The gameplay hinges on screen-by-screen exploration, tactical use of your limited ammunition, and managing your mech's directional facing, as your armor is weakest from the sides and rear. The pacing is deliberate, almost sluggish, forcing you to think about positioning and weapon selection rather than relying on reflexes. It feels like piloting a powerful but unwieldy machine, where every victory is earned through careful planning and stubborn persistence.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
