I first played Mario & Luigi on MS-DOS back in the mid-90s, a time when PC platformers were still finding their footing. It was released in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Wiering Software. The game felt like a rough but earnest attempt to bring the Mario experience to the PC, with all the quirks and limitations of that era.

You control either Mario or Luigi, moving screen by screen through side-scrolling levels filled with enemies and obstacles. Your main goal is simply to reach the end of each stage, stomping on Goombas and avoiding pitfalls. The game includes basic combat, like throwing fireballs, and light exploration for hidden blocks or power-ups. The pacing is straightforward, though the controls can feel a bit stiff, and the difficulty spikes in later levels keep you on your toes. Playing it now feels like revisiting a charming, slightly unpolished artifact from a simpler time in gaming.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
