Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Plus came out on Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by AlphaDream and published by Nintendo. You control both Mario and Luigi simultaneously, each assigned to a face button, as you explore the Beanbean Kingdom screen by screen. Your main goal is to recover Princess Peach's stolen voice from the witch Cackletta, which involves navigating overworld puzzles, delving into themed dungeons, and engaging in turn-based battles where timing your button presses is everything. Dodging enemy attacks and landing stronger counter hits feels active and responsive, while the brothers' distinct jump and hammer abilities often need to be combined to solve environmental puzzles. The pacing stays brisk, with a steady stream of light platforming, combat, and exploration that never bogs down. It just feels clever and consistently fun to play.
