I picked up Animaniacs: Lights, Camera, Action! back when it came out on the Nintendo DS in 2005, published by Ignition Entertainment. It was one of those licensed games that tried to make the most of the DS's dual screens and touch controls, fitting right in with the era's experimental spirit. The game captures the zany, fourth-wall-breaking humor of the show pretty well, and it’s built around short, frantic challenges rather than a long story.

You control Yakko, Wakko, and Dot across a series of movie set mini-games, each with its own rules. One moment you’re rearranging film reels while dodging security guards, the next you’re in a top-down shooter segment or sneaking past studio executives. The main goal is to complete these scenes to progress, and you use the touch screen for actions like tapping, dragging, and tracing paths. The pacing is fast, and some tasks can get repetitive if you’re not into quick retries. It feels like a chaotic, interactive episode of the cartoon, especially when the Warner antics kick in.
