Game Overview

Animaniacs on Game Boy is one of those weird little licensed games that actually gets the vibe right. You play as Yakko, Wakko, and Dot—each with their own abilities—as they run around the Warner Bros. lot causing chaos and collecting movie props. Yakko shoves boxes around, Wakko smashes everything with his mallet (which never gets old), and Dot... well, she just blows kisses at enemies until they swoon. It’s ridiculous, but it works.

The levels are short but packed with little puzzles where you have to switch between characters to get past obstacles. Some sections feel a bit trial-and-error at first—like figuring out which enemy can actually be charmed by Dot—but once it clicks, you’ll be bouncing between the trio without thinking. And yeah, there are only four stages, but they’re surprisingly dense for a Game Boy game. You can tell the developers actually watched the show.

It’s not perfect—the jumping physics are a little floaty, and some hitboxes are questionable—but for a 90s cartoon tie-in, it holds up better than most. If you ever wanted to see Wakko bonk a security guard with a hammer while Yakko yells "Goodnight, everybody!", this is your game.
