Play Ardy Lightfoot Online
Toss your penguin buddy at weird enemies, bounce on giant mushrooms, and fight bizarre bosses in this forgotten SNES gem that feels like playing a trippy cartoon.
Ardy Lightfoot came out in 1993 for the Super Nintendo, developed and published by ASCII Corporation. It was one of those many platformers from that era that didn't get a huge amount of attention but had a very distinct, almost surreal look to its world. You play as a young fox named Ardy, who is on a quest to find the pieces of the Triforce-like Sun God statue to save his village.
You control Ardy through side-scrolling levels, jumping across platforms and using a boomerang to attack enemies. A key mechanic involves your companion, a penguin named Pico, who you can pick up and throw at foes or use as a stepping stone to reach higher areas. The game is structured around exploring different themed worlds, each with its own set of levels and a boss fight at the end. The pacing is methodical, and some sections can be quite challenging due to precise platforming requirements. It feels like navigating a strange, colorful storybook where every screen holds a new, slightly off-kilter surprise.
