Assassin's Creed II: Discovery came out for the Nintendo DS in 2009, developed and published by Ubisoft. The DS was full of these ambitious adaptations, and this one took the core of Ezio's story into a more focused, side-scrolling adventure.
You control Ezio Auditore, moving through levels screen by screen, climbing buildings, and assassinating targets. The main goal is to complete missions across Italy and Spain, rescuing fellow assassins and uncovering a conspiracy. Signature mechanics include using the stylus for climbing gestures and combat swipes, along with stealth sections where you hide in shadows or blend with crowds. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike during timed escape sequences. It feels surprisingly tactile to navigate the world with quick, precise strokes of the pen.
