Play Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (Japan) Online
Blast bouncing tomatoes with a shotgun, rescue hostages, and navigate through quirky backyards in this goofy Game Boy title from 1991.
I picked up Attack of the Killer Tomatoes for the Game Boy back in 1991, a time when licensed games were everywhere and you never quite knew what you were getting. THQ published it, and it was based on that goofy B-movie franchise about, well, murderous tomatoes. It wasn't trying to be a big deal; it was just another oddball title in a sea of portable curiosities.
You play as a guy with a shotgun, moving screen by screen through suburban backyards and kitchens, shooting tomatoes that bounce toward you. Your main goal is to rescue hostages before the tomatoes get them, which adds a little urgency to the mayhem. The controls feel a bit stiff, but blasting a tomato into red pulp has its own weird satisfaction. The pacing is straightforward, though the difficulty can spike when too many tomatoes fill the screen. It's silly, simple, and over quickly, but there's a strange charm in mowing down produce with a shotgun.
