Attack of the Killer Tomatoes came out on the NES in 1991, developed by Imagineering Inc. It was one of those oddball movie tie-ins that showed up on the console, a time when licensed games were often experimental and sometimes just plain weird. This one definitely leaned into the source material's goofy charm, for better or worse.

You control Chad Finletter, a hero tasked with stopping a tomato invasion. The game plays out across side scrolling stages where you jump over pits, avoid obstacles, and shoot an unlimited supply of tomatoes with your pistol. You explore each level screen by screen, sometimes backtracking to find keys or avoid hazards. The pacing is slow, the controls feel stiff, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly. Playing it feels like wrestling with a clunky but strangely earnest tribute to a very silly film.
