Play Back to Stone Online

You play as a half-stone experiment, petrifying demons while navigating shifting dungeons—feels like a whole dark fantasy world crammed into a tiny cartridge. That little helper actually gives decent advice when you're stuck sliding across ice or sinking in swamps.

Game Overview

Back to Stone is one of those GBA hidden gems that feels way bigger than it should. You play as this escaped experiment—some poor guy infused with demonic essence that turns him into this half-stone monstrosity. Sounds rough, but hey, at least you can petrify enemies with a touch. The isometric view gives it this weirdly cozy dungeon-crawler vibe, even when you're getting jumped by demons.

What surprised me was how much world they packed into a 32Mb cartridge. You'll trudge through swamps where the water slows you down, slide across icy patches, and navigate these creepy lost cities where the ground shifts under your feet. And just when you're stuck on some puzzle, this little helper dude pops up—kinda like Navi, but less annoying.

It's got that classic GBA jank—some hitboxes are wonky, and the stone-transformation mechanic takes getting used to—but there's something satisfying about slowly overpowering the demons that ruined humanity. The bosses? Absolute nightmares in the best way. Took me a solid weekend to finish, and I didn't even find all the hidden powers.
