Play Backyard Football 2006 Online
NFL teams played by cartoon kids—side-scrolling passes with a bouncy power meter, dodging tackles while someone’s dog chases the ball. Weirdly deep for a backyard brawl.

Backyard Football 2006 on the GBA is basically NFL football if it were played by cartoon kids in someone’s yard—complete with goofy power-ups and exaggerated tackles. You’ve got all the real NFL teams, plus these weird backyard squads with names like the "Pigskin Poppers" (no idea what that means, but they’re weirdly good).
Matches play out in this side-scrolling view where you’re basically hovering over the field like a confused bird. Timing’s everything—when you pass or kick, this little power meter bounces up and down, and if you hit the button at the wrong moment, the ball either flops pathetically or goes flying into someone’s kitchen window. There’s a surprising amount of strategy too, with plays you can swap between mid-game, though I usually just spammed the "recommended" one and hoped for the best.
You can tweak everything from weather (rain turns the field into a slip ‘n slide) to whether players actually get tired (turn fatigue off if you hate realism). The team draft before exhibition matches is weirdly fun—nothing like watching the CPU agonize over picking a third-string punter while you snag all the good runners. It’s silly, but the kind of silly that makes you grin when your tiny QB somehow hurdles a defender twice his size.
