Bakugan: Rise of the Resistance came out for the Nintendo DS in 2011, published by Activision. It was one of those mid-lifecycle DS games that tried to do something a little different with the hardware, blending the Bakugan brand with a more strategic style of play. It didn't get a ton of attention, but it had its own niche.
You control a team of Bakugan brawlers from a top-down perspective, moving through areas of New Vestoria. The main goal is to defend key points from enemy waves using your Bakugan like tactical traps; you place them on the battlefield, and they spring into action when foes get close. You also collect enemy DNA during fights to unlock and build new defensive units. The pacing is methodical, with moments of intense pressure when multiple attack waves converge. It feels like a constant puzzle of positioning and resource management just to stay ahead of the onslaught.
