Play Bananan Ouji no Daibouken (Japan) Online

You control a banana-headed kid bouncing through weirdly cheerful levels, dodging toy-like enemies and nailing tricky jumps between vanishing platforms. It’s got that janky, lovable NES energy where half the fun is figuring out its odd little quirks.

Game Overview

Banana Prince is one of those weird, charming NES platformers that never made it to the US—which is a shame, because it’s got this oddball energy I love. You play as this little guy with a banana-shaped head (obviously), bouncing around colorful levels that feel like a mix between Mario and some forgotten Saturday morning cartoon.

The German version tweaked some sprites, but either way, it’s got that classic early ‘90s platforming vibe: hidden blocks, floaty jumps, and enemies that look like they escaped from a toy box. First time I played, I got stuck on this one level with disappearing platforms for way too long—turns out timing is everything.

It’s not the deepest game, but there’s something about the goofy charm that sticks with you. If you’re into obscure retro stuff, this one’s a fun curiosity.
