Game Overview

Bart no Survival Camp came out in 1993 for the Game Boy, developed by TOSE and published by Tomy. It was one of those odd, Japan only Simpsons games that felt a little out of place next to the more action oriented titles on the platform. You don't see many survival sims starring a ten year old troublemaker, but here we are.

You control Bart as he tries to survive in the wilderness, managing hunger and stamina while avoiding hazards like bears and snakes. The main goal is to stay alive long enough to be rescued, which involves exploring the forest screen by screen, foraging for food, and occasionally using items like a slingshot. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty comes from managing your resources carefully under constant pressure. It feels tense and a little absurd, like a fever dream Simpsons episode where Homer forgot to pick him up from camp.
