Game Overview

Remember that old Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale? This Game Boy gem gives it the full Simpsons treatment, and it’s way weirder than you’d expect. Bart trades the family cow to Mr. Burns (of course) for magic beans and a slingshot—classic Bart move. Homer, being Homer, spits them out the window, and suddenly you’re climbing this ridiculous beanstalk through clouds full of killer bees and floating platforms.

It’s a platformer with some shooting mixed in—you’ll bounce between vines, dodge falling anvils (because why not), and take down enemies with whatever weapons you stumble on. The levels get pretty creative, especially when you reach Burns’ castle in the sky. Seven levels total, which sounds short, but some of those jumps will have you sweating. The slingshot feels a little awkward at first, but you get used to it after a few close calls with angry geese.

Definitely one of the weirder Simpsons games, but in a good way. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on that one vine section for way too long.
