Game Overview

Ever wake up from a dream where everything was just... off? The Simpsons: Bart’s Nightmare on SNES is basically that, but with way more flying textbooks and angry Lisa clones. You jump between these bizarre mini-games—one minute you’re platforming through Springfield dodging bullies, the next you’re in this weird isometric dungeon collecting pages of Bart’s homework like some kind of demented scavenger hunt.

It’s janky in that early ‘90s way where the controls sometimes fight you, but the sheer weirdness keeps you going. Like, at one point you shrink down to avoid a giant Itchy & Scratchy, and later you’re literally running from your own F-grade report card. The whole thing feels like someone took a bunch of rejected Simpsons episode ideas and turned them into a video game after three energy drinks.

Not gonna lie, some parts are frustrating (looking at you, River Ralph level), but the art style nails that classic era of the show, and the soundtrack’s full of those jazzy Springfield vibes. If you’re into weird retro games or just miss when The Simpsons was this unhinged, it’s a trip—just maybe keep a walkthrough handy.
