The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was one of those early SNES titles that tried to capture the show's chaotic energy, landing right in that era when licensed games were either surprisingly inventive or just plain strange.
You control Bart Simpson, who has fallen asleep while trying to finish his homework. The main goal is to recover the scattered pages of his essay by entering different sub-games, each a twisted version of a Springfield location. You run through streets avoiding bullies, shrink down to explore the living room carpet, and even fend off enemies with a slingshot in an Itchy & Scratchy segment. The game is notoriously difficult, with unforgiving mechanics and a strict time limit that forces you to rush. Playing it feels like trying to herd cats while the room is spinning.
