Game Overview

I picked up The Simpsons: Itchy & Scratchy in Miniature Golf Madness for the Game Boy back in 1994, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was one of those licensed games that felt right at home on the handheld, a time when you took what you could get for portable fun and didn't expect too much. The premise is simple: you play through a miniature golf course designed around the violent cartoon antics of Itchy and Scratchy, which was a pretty clever idea for a game back then.

You control your golf ball from an overhead view, navigating through themed holes filled with obstacles like falling anvils, exploding TNT, and moving platforms. The main goal is just to sink your putt in as few strokes as possible, but the real challenge comes from avoiding the hazards that pop up all over the place. You have to time your shots carefully, sometimes waiting for a trap to reset or angling your ball off a wall to avoid instant disaster. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, but landing a perfect shot through all the madness feels surprisingly satisfying. It's chaotic, silly, and exactly what you'd expect from a game based on those two.
