Bass Masters Classic on the Game Boy Color is one of those weirdly satisfying fishing sims that shouldn’t be as fun as it is. You pick your lure (the frog one worked best for me), pick a spot, and just... wait. The "lure cam" view shows your bait bobbing underwater, and when a bass finally bites, you’ve got to mash the D-pad like crazy to reel it in before it gets away.
Tournament mode’s the real meat of it—you’ve got to qualify for the big Bass Master Classic by catching the heaviest fish. But I spent way too much time in practice mode just messing with different weather and times of day. Night fishing with rain? Weirdly peaceful, even if the bass weren’t biting as much.
It’s janky in that classic GBC way, but there’s something about the rhythm of casting, waiting, and frantic reeling that just clicks. You’ll curse when a big one snaps your line, though.
