Battle Dodge Ball II came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, published by Banpresto. It was part of that wave of sports games that weren't trying to be realistic, just fast and fun. You control a team of kids on a dodgeball court, moving your character around to pick up the ball, aim, and throw it at the opposing team. The main goal is to eliminate all the players on the other side by hitting them. A couple of the key mechanics are charging your throws for more power and catching incoming balls to protect yourself and take out the thrower. The pacing is frantic; the screen fills with projectiles, and matches can turn around in a second. It feels like controlled chaos, where a well-timed catch or a powerful throw can completely shift the momentum of a round.
