Play Battleship (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es) Online
You and a buddy take turns blindly firing at grids, sweating when you're down to your last ship—those quiet "miss" moments hit harder than you'd expect from colored squares. The computer’s weirdly good at suddenly wrecking your fleet if you cluster ships together.

Battleship for the NES came out in 1993, published by Mindscape. It was a straightforward adaptation of the classic board game, fitting right in with other simple, multiplayer focused titles on the system at the time.
You control the placement of your fleet and then take turns calling out coordinates to fire upon your opponent's hidden grid. The main objective is to sink all of your opponent's ships before they sink yours. Key mechanics include strategically placing your ships to avoid easy detection and carefully tracking your hits and misses to deduce the location of enemy vessels. The pacing is methodical, almost tense, especially as both sides narrow down their search. It feels surprisingly tense for a game about guessing letters and numbers.
