Game Overview

I remember playing Battleship on MS-DOS back in the early 90s. It was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Milton Bradley in 1990. At the time, it was a straightforward adaptation of the board game, fitting right in with other simple, turn-based titles that ran on home computers before Windows took over. You didn't need a fancy graphics card or a lot of memory; it was just you, the keyboard, and the screen.

You control your own fleet of ships, placing them on a grid before the game begins. The main objective is to sink your opponent's ships by calling out coordinates, one at a time, and waiting to see if you hit or miss. The signature mechanics are the grid based guessing, the gradual reveal of ship positions, and the tension that builds as both sides narrow down possible locations. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with the computer opponent often making surprisingly logical moves that keep you on your toes. It feels like a quiet, focused battle of wits where every guess matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
