Game Overview
Bejeweled 3 is that classic gem-matching game you’ve probably played a dozen times before, but with just enough new stuff to make it feel fresh. You’re still swapping colored gems to make matches of three or more, but now you can keep swapping even while the board’s still cascading—which is weirdly satisfying when you pull off a big combo. The special gems are the real stars here: match four and you get a flame gem that blows up nearby tiles, match five for a hypercube that wipes out every gem of the same color. And if you line up a T or L shape? That’ll give you a star gem that clears whole rows.
There’s a surprising amount to do beyond the standard mode. Classic is the usual no-pressure matching, Zen is basically a screensaver with chill soundscapes (great for zoning out), and Lightning is frantic—you’re racing the clock, grabbing extra seconds whenever you can. Quest mode throws weird challenges at you, like digging through rocks or saving butterfly gems before they flutter away. And yeah, there’s even a poker mode where matching gems counts as building hands. Weird, but it works.
It’s simple, polished, and the kind of thing you’ll still be playing at 2 AM when you meant to stop an hour ago. The DS version keeps all the good stuff from the original, just with slightly tinier gems.
