Game Overview
If you grew up with Ben 10 like I did, this DS game actually does a solid job capturing the chaos of the Omniverse series. You're bouncing between teenage Ben and his younger self, which keeps things interesting—especially when you realize messing with stuff in the past (like, say, knocking over a weird alien vending machine) changes stuff in the present. The time-travel puzzles are way cooler than I expected.
Combat’s simple but satisfying—you’ve got 13 aliens to swap between, and each handles differently. Gravattack’s gravity powers feel heavy and slow, while XLR8 zips around like he’s on fast-forward. The levels are packed with little nods to the show, like fighting through Undertown’s neon-lit alleys or Max’s garage-turned-Plumber-base. Malware’s a decent villain, though I mostly just enjoyed slamming enemies as Fourarms.
It’s not perfect—some of the platforming’s a bit clunky—but for a DS game, it’s way more ambitious than most tie-ins. You can tell they actually cared about making it feel like the show.
