Bijo to Yajuu is basically Disney’s Beauty and the Beast turned into a weird little SNES adventure. You hop between characters like Belle, Beast, and even the enchanted objects—each with their own abilities—to solve puzzles and break the curse. The controls are a bit stiff (it’s an early 90s platformer, after all), but there’s something charming about playing as Lumière and bouncing around on his tiny candle legs. The music’s straight from the movie, so if you’re nostalgic for that, it hits just right.
Fair warning: some of the platforming can be janky, and the translation’s rough if you’re playing the Japanese version. Still, it’s a neat oddity for Disney fans who don’t mind a retro challenge. I got stuck for way too long trying to figure out how to get Cogsworth up a ladder.
