Mahjong with anime girls commenting on your plays—expect pastel explosions, ridiculous outfits, and surprisingly solid tile-matching between all the chatter. That soundtrack’s pure ‘90s cheese, though.

Game Overview

Ever played mahjong but wished it had more anime flair? Bishoujo Janshi Suchie-Pie on the SNES is basically that—a Japan-only mahjong game where the tiles come with big-eyed characters, silly dialogue, and a ridiculous amount of pastel colors. At first glance, it looks like a dating sim got mixed up with your grandma’s favorite game, but the actual tile-matching is solid.

The girls chatter at you between rounds (if you understand Japanese, anyway), and there’s something oddly satisfying about watching their reactions when you pull off a winning hand. It’s not the deepest mahjong sim out there, but the vibe is so aggressively cheerful that you’ll probably keep playing just to see what ridiculous outfit the next opponent shows up in.

Fair warning: The music is peak early ‘90s synth, so your ears might need a break after a while. Still, it’s hard to stay mad at a game where someone shouts “Ron!” in a squeaky anime voice every time you win.
