Bleach: Soul Carnival came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2008, developed by Racjin and published by SCEI. It was one of several anime-based games on the PSP that tried to capture the feel of the source material without overcomplicating the gameplay. You control super-deformed versions of characters like Ichigo and Rukia, moving through side-scrolling stages packed with enemies. The goal is to clear each area of Hollows and other foes, often culminating in a boss fight. Key mechanics include switching between multiple characters mid-stage to use their unique abilities, building up special meters for screen-clearing attacks, and collecting souls to unlock even more fighters.
