Game Overview
God of War: Ghost of Sparta on PSP is Kratos at his most brutal—and personal. Fresh off becoming the god of war, he’s still haunted by visions, this time of his mother trapped in Atlantis. Athena tells him to let it go, but since when does Kratos listen? What starts as a rescue mission spirals into uncovering his past and a wild reunion with his brother, Deimos.
The combat feels familiar—those chained blades still slice through enemies like butter—but now you can supercharge them with Thera’s Bane, turning fights into a fiery spectacle. There’s a new secondary weapon (a spear-shield hybrid that’s oddly satisfying) and some brutal magic to play with. Between story segments, the Temple of Zeus lets you blow leftover orbs on concept art or arena challenges, which are basically excuses to wreck waves of enemies without the plot getting in the way.
It’s shorter than the console games, but the spectacle holds up surprisingly well on the PSP, especially when you’re hurling a minotaur off a cliff. The story’s the real hook here—seeing Kratos’ rage tempered by something resembling family drama makes it one of the more interesting side stories in the series.
