Game Overview

I picked up Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories on the PlayStation Portable back in 2006, developed by Rockstar Leeds and published by Rockstar Games. It was one of the bigger open world games on the PSP at the time, letting you carry a full GTA experience in your pocket, which felt pretty ambitious for a handheld.

You play as Victor Vance, an ex soldier trying to build a criminal empire in 1980s Vice City. The main goal is to take over rival gang territories by completing missions, managing businesses, and engaging in turf wars. Signature mechanics include empire building, where you buy and defend properties to generate income, and on foot combat with targeting and cover. The pacing is aggressive; you're constantly balancing story missions with random attacks on your assets. It feels chaotic and satisfying to slowly paint the map your color while fending off enemies.
