Game Overview
God of War: Ghost of Sparta is Kratos' second outing on the PSP, and honestly, it punches way above its weight for a handheld game. Set between the first and second mainline games, it dives into his past—nightmares about his mom, a missing brother, and of course, a lot of angry gods in his way. Athena tells him to let it go, but since when does Kratos listen to good advice?
The combat feels just as brutal as you’d expect—those Blades of Athena still rip through enemies like paper, but now you can temporarily supercharge them with Thera’s Bane, which is as satisfying as it sounds. There’s also a new secondary weapon (always handy when you’re tired of swinging chains) and some fresh magic to play with. Outside the main story, the Temple of Zeus lets you burn through orbs to unlock concept art and other goodies, which is a nice break from all the stabbing.
It’s a shorter adventure than the console games, but it’s packed with that same over-the-top spectacle—just don’t expect Poseidon to be happy about your visit.
