Game Overview

God of War: Ghost of Sparta on PSP is Kratos at his most brutal—and personal. Fresh off becoming the god of war, he’s still haunted by visions, this time of his mother trapped in Atlantis. Athena tells him to let it go, but since when does Kratos listen? So off he goes, hacking through mythic beasts and uncovering family secrets, including a long-lost brother tangled up with Thanatos (yeah, that Thanatos).

Gameplay’s classic God of War—chainsawing through enemies with the Blades of Athena feels just as satisfying on the small screen. But there’s a twist: Thera’s Bane lets you supercharge your attacks for a bit, turning fights into even messier spectacles. You’ll grab new magic and a secondary weapon along the way, plus there’s the Temple of Zeus, where you can blow leftover orbs on concept art and other goodies. It’s shorter than the console games, but the story hits harder than you’d expect from a portable spin-off.

If you missed this one back in the PSP days, it’s worth digging up for the spectacle alone—just maybe not right before bed.
