BMX XXX came out on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, developed by Z-Axis. It was a strange entry in the console's library, a game that tried to stand out in a crowded field of extreme sports titles by leaning hard into a crude, juvenile sense of humor. You knew what you were getting into just from the box art.

You control a BMX rider, and the goal is to complete stunt-filled levels by landing tricks to earn points and find hidden items. The signature mechanics are pulling off combos by chaining grinds and jumps together, and performing special moves that are often just excuses for crude animations. The pacing is frantic, and the physics can be unforgiving, sending you back to a checkpoint if you crash too spectacularly. It feels like a standard trick-based game that's constantly trying to distract you with its own immaturity.
