Game Overview
Body Blows AGA came out on the Amiga in 1993, developed by Team17. It was part of a wave of fighting games trying to capture some of the arcade energy at home, offering a local multiplayer option when that was still a novelty. The AGA version pushed the Amiga's color palette further, giving the characters and backgrounds a bit more visual punch compared to earlier releases.
You pick one of several fighters, each with their own basic and special moves, and take them through a series of one-on-one matches. The main goal is to defeat your opponent's health bar within the time limit, either by landing regular attacks or pulling off more complex command moves. Matches play out on a single screen, with characters able to jump, crouch, and move back and forth; some characters can even perform projectiles or anti-air moves to control space. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty can spike noticeably against later CPU opponents. It feels straightforward and immediate, built more for quick sessions with a friend than deep solo play.
