Game Overview

Breath Of Fire (Eurasia) (J) is one of those old-school RPGs that feels simple at first, but slowly pulls you in. You start as Ryu, just wandering the overworld with Nina, and the first few battles make it seem like a basic turn-based grind. But then you notice little things—the way certain spells interact, or how some enemies react differently to dragon transformations.

I remember getting stuck early on because I didn’t realize some areas required specific abilities. The game doesn’t hold your hand, so you end up backtracking, talking to every NPC twice just in case. It’s frustrating in that classic 90s RPG way, but when you finally unlock a new dragon form or stumble onto a hidden item, it feels earned.

The pixel art still holds up, especially the enemy designs—some of them are weird in the best way. Breath Of Fire (Eurasia) (J) isn’t the deepest RPG out there, but there’s a charm to its simplicity.
