Game Overview

Brothers in Arms: D-Day came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2006, developed by Ubisoft Shanghai and published by Ubisoft. It was one of the few serious World War II shooters on the system, offering a portable take on the squad tactics the series was known for. The PSP had a lot of action games, but this one stood out for trying something slower and more deliberate.

You control Sergeant Matt Baker, leading a small squad through key D-Day operations. Your main goal is to capture objectives and eliminate enemy positions, often by using flanking maneuvers and suppressing fire. Two key mechanics define the gameplay: you can issue orders to your squad using a simple command wheel, and you can use a tactical pause to survey the battlefield and plan your next move. The pacing is methodical; rushing ahead usually ends badly, so you learn to use cover and coordinate your team carefully. It feels tense and grounded, especially when you pull off a successful flank and watch your squad clear a bunker with well placed shots.
