Game Overview

I first played Bubble Bobble on the Amiga back in 1986, a port of Taito's arcade hit handled by Firebird Software. It arrived during a time when the Amiga was showing off its capabilities, and this version captured the charm of the original with its bright colors and cheerful music. It felt right at home on the platform, a straightforward arcade experience without the pretense of more complex games of the era.

You control one of two bubble-blowing dinosaurs, Bub or Bob, working through over a hundred single-screen levels. The goal is simple: trap every enemy on the screen inside your bubbles and then pop them to clear the stage. The mechanics are deceptively simple; you can bounce on your own bubbles to reach higher platforms, and collecting power-ups like the lightning bubble or water bubble changes your attack and helps you deal with trickier foes. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up steadily, demanding more precise jumps and smarter bubble placement. Playing it feels like a cheerful, frantic puzzle where every pop is a small victory.
