Game Overview

Bubble Bobble came out for the NES in 1987, developed by Taito. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the system, colorful and straightforward but with enough depth to keep you coming back. You don't see many games built entirely around something as simple as blowing bubbles, but it worked.

You control a small dinosaur named Bub (or Bob in two-player), and your goal is to clear each screen of enemies by trapping them in bubbles and popping them. The levels are single-screen arenas, and you jump around avoiding enemies while timing your bubbles just right. Sometimes you collect power-ups that change your bubble's behavior or let you move faster. The game starts easy but quickly becomes frantic as enemies multiply and bounce unpredictably. It feels satisfying to clear a tricky screen and hear that little victory jingle.
