Budokan throws you straight into the dojo with four martial arts styles—karate, kendo, nunchaku, and bo—each with their own weight and rhythm. Mess up a combo, and you’ll see your stamina drain faster than you’d like.
I spent way too long in practice mode figuring out the timing for nunchaku spins before daring to face the instructors. When you finally take the plunge, the tournament at Budokan feels like a real test—no health bars here, just your reflexes and how well you’ve managed your energy. The two-player sparring is where it shines, though. Nothing beats the panic of realizing your friend’s figured out your kendo overhead swing leaves you wide open.
It’s one of those games where every match feels like a lesson, not just a fight.
