Bust-A-Move 4 came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, developed and published by Taito. It was one of those late-era puzzle games that felt right at home on the handheld, simple to pick up but with enough content to keep you busy during commutes or between classes. The series was already familiar to many, but this entry refined the formula just enough to stand out among other portable distractions of the time.

You control a small cannon at the bottom of the screen, aiming and firing colored bubbles upward to create groups of three or more matching colors. The main goal is to clear each screen of bubbles before they descend too far and end your game. Key mechanics include the ability to bank shots off the sides of the playfield for tricky angles, and a special bubble system that lets you earn and use power-ups like rainbow bubbles or screen clears. The pacing starts relaxed but quickly becomes tense as the bubbles inch downward with every shot you take. It feels satisfying to set off chain reactions and watch entire sections disappear with one well-placed bubble.
